Show Notes Transcript Chapter Markers

In honour of Venus' beautiful retrograde through Capricorn this year, come explore the sacred feminine pathways through Vedic Astrology, Yoga and Beyond. In this episode I am joined by Nandini who has spent the last 20 years reconnecting people with their feminine pathways through yoga and beyond.  She is the founder of The Empowered Feminine Festival (https://empoweredfemfest.com/) and, at times in this episode,  I felt I was speaking with Venus herself :) We cover sensuality, the importance of the body, tantra, feminine signs & planets, Shad bala, Lajjitaadi Avasthas, Mahabhagya yoga, Kali and much more.

·         Brahmin influence?

·         Muslim invasion?

·         British colonisation?

0:17:19 What about Vedic Astrology?

·         Priestly context

·         Royalty

·         Elite

·         Has what is ‘auspicious’ in a chart been culturally masculinised?

·         Not gender specific

0:18:50 Feminine Rasis

·         When I started learning Vedic Astrology, the idea of masculine and feminine is unavoidable as it is delineated in the rasis and in the planets.

·         If we revisit the rasi – 6 out of 12 rasis are female and 6 are male.  Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces.  What does it mean for a rasi to be female – it means it

o   is receptive,

o   represents the back of the body and

o   the left side of the body.

o   has negative polarity

·         You will notice that Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn are feminine Earth signs,

·         Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces are feminine Water signs.

·         Earth signs are linked also to Artha and

·         Water signs are linked to Moksha

·         Discussion of Capricorn and fierce Goddesses

0:22:28 The role of the Moon in the Zodiac

·         All the female rasis belong to the Moon.  Because really the whole zodiac belongs to the Sun and the Moon.  They delegate their responsibilities to planets – but, fundamentally, all signs belong to the Sun and the Moon.

·         The Moon owns Cancer and it delegates

·         Virgo to Mercury

·         Scorpio to Mars

·         Capricorn to Saturn

·         Pisces to Jupiter and

·         Taurus to Venus

·         so each planet (apart from the Sun) gets a feminine sign to administer

0:24:18 Feminine: dark mysterious unknown and medicinal

·         Covid experience

·         Time to slow down

·         Time to rest

·         Seeds grow in the darkness

·         Fertility happens in the darkness

·         Patience

·         Trying to escape the feminine by being busy

·         Trying to escape our feelings by being busy

·         Kali – the Goddess in love with Truth

·         Medicine

0:26:42 The Kali Story

·         Gods

·         Demons

·         Durga

·         Birth of Kali

·         Victory

·         Shiva

·         The role of consciousness / awareness

·         The balance and synergy of Masculine and Feminine

·         Getting repressed and stuck

·         The importance of cultivating presence / consciousness

0:38:48 Are we afraid of Feminine Power?

·         Learning to be present to Feminine Power

·         Patient

·         Receptive

·         Mother Earth – environmental consequences

0:42:00 Feminine Planets

·         Meanwhile, in Vedic Astrology there are 7 planets (and 2 nodes)

·         Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn

·         The female planets are

o   The Moon

o   Venus

·         While you can see that

o   The Sun

o   Mars and

o   Jupiter

·         are all masculine

·         And Mercury and Saturn (and the nodes) have no gender

·         Why is there this imbalance, why more masculine planets than feminine?

o   is it because the Earth is feminine?

0:44:15 Reconnecting with the body and the Earth – planetary rebalancing

·         When to be receptive and when to set boundaries?

·         Connecting to the body

o   Heart space

o   Womb space

·         What are our desires, our yeses, our nos

·         Connecting to the Earth

·         Self care is your secret weapon

·         Remaining in the sky, where there are more planets that are masculine will lead to imbalance

0:48:09 Valuing the self, low Shad bala and female superpowers!

·         The Moon

·         Venus

·         Low Chesta bala

o   Moving fast

·         Low self care

·         Don’t value the self

·         Can’t take pride in the self

·         Being a mother can demand a lot of sacrifice (one’s body, time, energy, nutrition, self-care time)

·         And yet, it can be done – by some female-super-power?!?

·         But what does that mean about sacrificing and valuing the self?

·         The importance of support

0:53:08 “Mahabhagya "great fortune" Yoga”

·         In the case of a female chart, the Sun, the Moon and the lagna (ascendant) are all in female signs AND the birth took place at night.

·         Quoting Ernst Wilhelm from Kala and “Core Yogas”

o   This provides “a greater ability to be receptive to the best possible situations and opportunities in life due to the receptive qualities of the feminine signs. Qualities of patience, contentment, tolerance, and feeling-centered discrimination are noted. From inner happiness arise good deeds and success.

·         The importance of being given permission to be

0:56:33 The Path of Tantra

·         The Radiance Sutras (a lively translation of the  Vijnana Bhairava Tantra)

o   lorinroche.com/the-radiance-sutras

·         Balancing detachment and passion

·         Not clinging and not resisting

·         Integration of Masculine and Feminine

·         All-encompassing

1:03:07 Feminine Planets causing Lajjitaadi Avastha Problems

·         When do the Female Planets cause problems via Lajjiaadi Avasthas?

·         The Moon – becoming needy

·         Venus – tempts Jupiter’s inner contentment into the outer world, making Jupiter seek pleasure and external satisfaction, rather than inner satisfaction.
